1, Forging and casting difference

(1) Casting: It is to change the shapeless liquid metal into a solid shape.

Casting is like when you play with wax, you buy wax (scrap steel, or pig iron) and then you turn that wax into a liquid, put it in a mold or something, and you get different shapes. (Solid-liquid-solid)

Forging is similar to the process of making flatbread, where you knead small pieces of dough and put them into molds to make products of different shapes. Almost solid shapes can change into other shapes (solid to solid) at high temperatures.

Casting is the process of casting molten metal into a model to obtain castings. The casting major focuses on the metal melting process, as well as the process control during the casting process.

Forging is a plastic forming under the solid state, there are hot processing, cold processing points, such as extrusion, drawing, rough, punching and so on are forging.

(2) Forging is slowly forming, casting is a molding

Casting: Molten liquid metal is filled with cavity and cooled. It is easy to produce air holes in the middle of the parts.

Forging: It is mainly formed by extrusion at high temperature. It can refine the grains in the parts.

2, The difference between free forging and die forging

Free forging is a processing method that places the heated metal billet on the forging equipment and between the lower strop iron, exerts impact force or pressure, and directly causes plastic deformation of the billet, so as to obtain the required forgings. Due to the simple shape and flexible operation of forgings, free forging is suitable for the production of single pieces, small batches and heavy forgings. Free forging includes manual free forging and machine free forging. Manual free forging production efficiency is low, labor intensity, only used for repair or simple, small, small batch of forging production, in modern industrial production, machine free forging has become the main method of forging production, in heavy machinery manufacturing, it has a particularly important role.

The full name of die forging is model forging, which places the heated blank in the forging die fixed on the die forging equipment.Die forging can be performed on a variety of devices. In industrial production, steam-air hammer is mostly used in hammer forging, and the tonnage is 5KN~300KN(0.5~30t). The die forging press of the press is commonly used in hot die forging presses, and the tonnage is 25000KN~63000KN.

The structure of die forging includes single die forging die and multi-die forging die. A single die forging die, which is fixed by dovetail groove and oblique wedge to prevent slipping out and moving around; The key and keyway are used to position the forging die accurately and prevent forward and backward movement. The single die bore is generally the final forging die bore, and forging often requires an air hammer to make billet, and then it is formed by hammering the final forging die bore many times, and finally the forging is removed to remove the flash edge.

Single-die forging die and multi-die forging die are two different forging die methods, their application occasions and performance characteristics are slightly different. Single die forging die is usually suitable for small batch, highly customized products, can provide a single part with high precision, high efficiency and high quality forging service. In contrast, multi-die forging dies can forge multiple parts at the same time, which is suitable for high-volume, high-yield production tasks, and can flexibly change the mold to produce different types of parts as needed. In addition, the multi-mode forging die can also reduce costs and improve the overall production efficiency. It should be noted that when selecting a single die or a multi-die forging mode, different factors need to be considered according to the specific production needs, such as part geometry, process requirements, production cycle and cost.

3, The difference between casting, forging, stamping, casting

(1) Casting is to melt the raw material and let it form naturally in the molding mold

Forging: The raw material is heated to a certain temperature and then forged with a tool

Stamping: The raw material is stamped with a suitable stamping die

Die casting: On the basis of casting, pressure is used to inject the melted raw material into the mold to obtain a higher density or more precise shape

Casting: Molten liquid metal is filled with cavity and cooled. It is easy to produce air holes in the middle of the parts.

(2) Forging: It is mainly formed by extrusion at high temperatures. It can refine the grains in the parts.

The thickness of the parts is basically equivalent, and it is suitable for forming with sheet metal and stamping.

Parts of wide thickness, complex shape, not heat, die casting.

1, casting is divided into two kinds: high pressure casting and low pressure casting. Simply put, after melting the metal, the pressure pressed into the model is different, the temperature of heating the metal and the machine used to cast it are different.

2, forging is also a way of casting, the difference is that the temperature is lower when forging, and some can be made into finished metal in a semi-melted state.

3, stamping is the process of making semi-finished products into finished products with machines such as punching machines at room temperature.

4, die casting is also a way of high temperature casting, when the structure is more complex, more difficult casting, you can use the die casting machine, the metal is heated into liquid, pressed into the mold, after cooling open the mold to take out the product of a casting method.
